Dr. Gary White was out on the front lines helping people whose homes were damaged during Hurricane Harvey and even opened his own home to a family who lost theirs.
This behavior came as no surprise to his associates at Atascocita Dental.
"That’s just the type of person he is," said Stacie Treviño, appointment and financial coordinator for Atascocita Dental. "He loves to help – that’s his number one thing."
This is the fourth year Atascocita Dental will partner with Dentistry from the Heart, a national charity organization, to provide a day of free dental care to help those in need in the community.
On Friday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., people 18 and older without the resources to obtain dental care have the opportunity to receive their choice of either a complimentary filling, cleaning or extraction at Atascocita Dental.
At least 75 patients will be served during the event. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.; however, people are encouraged to arrive early because the free dental care is given on a first-come, first-served basis.
As the office anticipates a line to form outside of people awaiting treatment, they advise people to wear weather-appropriate clothing, and bring blankets or chairs if they wish.
Atascocita Dental is seeking event sponsors, as well as donations and volunteers to help during the event. Sponsors have the opportunity for recognition both online and at the event.
Treviño said some people may take dental care for granted, but to many, it can be a life-changing thing.
"It’s about quality of life," Treviño said. "It’s hard to smile if you’re in pain or need cleaning. If Dr. White could do this for free every day, he would. He loves to see people smile."
Atascocita Dental is at 7820 FM 1960 Road E, Suite 204.
